Sweets

I tried a new style of shading. I'm not sure if I like it.

This is my newest character on Mushroom Groves. My forth, in fact. Yes, I've yet to do a picture of my third. Anyway, she's my favorite character now. Partly because she's a Basenji, and partly because she's a happy-go-lucky little pup!

She was origionally brindle, but I decided to make her a tricolor because I didn't have a tri 'Senji character yet (I bet *silverwing will love this). She's actually what's called a "Fula" tri (named after the dog named Fula who started the lines), meaning that there's barring on her cheeks. This varies from a dip in the end of the cheek marking, to a seperation that creates "pips" (aka a spot on each cheek), like Sweets has. Note that I could be wrong on this. The Fula tricolors may be the ones without pips. I've seen conflicting information.

History (at least 2 paragraphs): The runt of the litter, everyone thought Sweets wouldn't make it. However, her early lack of energy was soon overpowered by her personality. She won over the hearts of her mum's owners, but they decided not to keep her. They tried their hardest to find the best owner for their favorite pup, and she ended up with a young couple who were active enough to satiate her energy. They took her everywhere, so she became extremely well socialized early on. She loves children, especially because their hands are often covered in food, and her only real behavior problem is her chasing of cats and other small creatures.

Very intelligent, Sweets didn't last long in the world of lure coursing because she, like most lure coursing hounds eventually do, learned how the machine worked. Because of this, her male owner, Mark, began to teach her how to track and retrieve. The only problem is, like nearly all of her breed, Sweets hates water. However, she soon grew bored of the training and her female owner, Lizzy, taught her agility. She soon grew bored of this too. Sweets is trained in tracking, agility, lure coursing, retrieving, flyball, show, and obedience, but her owners still haven't found the one thing that will maintain her attention for any length of time.

Sweets was never much of a show dog, as she gets bored so easily, but she does have a good type for it. Her owners hope to be able to show her when she's older and more willing to cooperate. Until then, they continue to train her in various things, and she indeed has a large vocabulary of commands. Though she loves to please, she performs commands reluctantly and doesn't like to do repetitive training. Because of this, she's slower to train, even though she is quite intelligent.

Personality: Very energetic, spunky and full of the joy of life. Though young, she does have wisdom beyond her years. She's a real escape artist and can get out of anything, even her crate! She's very friendly and wants to be friends with everyone.
